Subject: Funding Proposal for a $50M Climate-Resilient Housing Initiative in Mexico
Dear Review Committee,
On behalf of Agundiz Design Inc. and our non-profit initiative, Housing Aid Campaign Mexico, I am pleased to submit this proposal for your consideration. We are seeking $50 million USD in grant and blended finance to launch a transformative initiative to construct over 2,000 climate-resilient homes for Mexico’s most vulnerable families.
Mexico is facing a dual crisis of extreme climate impacts—including record heatwaves and flooding—and a significant housing deficit affecting over 10 million people.
These challenges disproportionately harm low-income families, creating cycles of poverty, poor health, and economic instability.
Our initiative directly addresses this nexus of climate, health, and poverty. Leveraging our proprietary, patent-protected
Thermo-Block technology, we build high-quality, energy-efficient homes that reduce indoor temperatures by up to 40%, lower energy costs, and are resilient to mold, floods, and seismic activity.
This project is not merely about construction; it is an integrated model for sustainable development that includes local workforce training, community empowerment, and measurable alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 3, 7, 11, and 13).
This proposal outlines a scalable, replicable, and financially sustainable model designed to deliver significant climate adaptation and mitigation co-benefits.
We are confident that our project strongly aligns with the Green Climate Fund's mandate to foster a paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development.
We are eager to collaborate with your technical teams to ensure our project meets the highest standards of impact, transparency, and accountability.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
José Cruz Agundiz Villela

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Agundiz Design Inc. requests $50 million USD to launch Phase 1 of its Climate-Resilient Housing Initiative, which aims to construct 2,000+ homes for vulnerable families in Mexico's most climate-affected regions. This initiative directly addresses the urgent need for housing that is resilient to extreme heat, flooding, and other climate-induced disasters.
The Problem: Mexico's escalating climate crisis, characterized by severe heatwaves and storms, has exacerbated a pre-existing housing crisis. Over 10 million people reside in substandard housing, exposing them to significant health risks (heatstroke, respiratory illness), economic hardship, and a perpetual cycle of poverty.
Our Solution: We deploy a proven, integrated model centered on our innovative Thermo-Block technology. This patented, heat-resistant building material creates energy-efficient, durable, and dignified homes. The model incorporates:
·Climate-Resilient Construction: Homes that naturally reduce indoor temperatures by up to 40% and are resistant to mold, floods, and seismic events.
·Workforce Development: Training and employing local labor, creating green jobs and empowering communities.
·Sustainable Finance: A hybrid model combining philanthropic grants with revenue-generating sales and rentals to ensure long-term scalability and project sustainability.
Funding & Allocation: The requested $50M will be allocated as follows:
·Construction & Materials (85%): Direct costs for building 2,000+ homes.
·Workforce Training & Development (10%): Vocational programs for local communities.
·Monitoring, Evaluation & ESG Reporting (4%): Ensuring transparent, measurable impact.
·Fully Donated Homes (1%): Provision of 50+ homes at no cost to families in extreme poverty.
Impact & Alignment: This project directly supports key international development goals, including
UN SDGs 1, 3, 7, 11, and 13, and the Green Climate Fund's strategic objectives for adaptation and mitigation. It will deliver significant social, economic, and environmental co-benefits, including improved health outcomes, local job creation, reduced GHG emissions, and enhanced community resilience.
1. THE CHALLENGE: THE CLIMATE AND HOUSING CRISIS IN MEXICO
Climate change is a present and escalating emergency in Mexico. The country is experiencing record-breaking heatwaves, increased frequency and intensity of storms, and widespread flooding. These impacts are most severe for low-income populations living in substandard housing.
·Climate Vulnerability: Over 10 million people in Mexico live in housing that lacks basic structural safety, sanitation, and thermal protection. These homes, often constructed from makeshift materials, become dangerously hot during heatwaves and offer little protection from storms.
·Health & Humanitarian Impact: Poor housing is directly linked to severe public health crises, including respiratory illnesses (from mold and poor ventilation), heatstroke, and chronic stress. Children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable, leading to increased healthcare burdens, lower school attendance, and reduced economic productivity for families.
·Economic Strain: Substandard housing perpetuates poverty. High energy costs for cooling (where available), coupled with income loss from climate-related health issues, trap families in a cycle of economic distress.
2. OUR SOLUTION: AN INTEGRATED CLIMATE-RESILIENT HOUSING INITIATIVE
Our initiative offers a holistic solution that moves beyond providing shelter to building health, dignity, and climate resilience.
Mission: To end housing poverty in climate-vulnerable regions through innovative design, sustainable construction, and community empowerment.
Project Model: We will implement this initiative in three core components:
1. Construction: Build 2,000+ homes using our proprietary Thermo-Block technology.
2.Training: Establish vocational programs to train local workers in sustainable construction, creating a skilled green workforce.
3. Community Development: Partner with local communities to ensure projects meet their specific needs, fostering ownership and long-term success.
3. PROJECT INNOVATION: THERMO-BLOCK TECHNOLOGY
The cornerstone of our project is the patented Thermo-Block, an innovative concrete block technology developed by Agundiz Design Inc.
Key Features & Benefits:
·Superior Thermal Insulation: Reduces indoor temperatures by up to 40% compared to traditional materials, drastically lowering the need for costly and carbon-intensive air conditioning.
·Energy Efficiency: Cuts household energy consumption and utility bills, providing significant long-term savings for low-income families.
·Durability & Resilience: The material is heat-resistant, mold-proof, water-resistant, and engineered for seismic resilience, ensuring long-term safety.
·Scalability: The production process is designed to be scaled globally, offering a solution for climate-vulnerable communities worldwide.
4. FUNDING REQUEST & FINANCIAL MODEL
We are seeking a total of $50,000,000 USD to finance Phase 1 of this initiative.
